Pipetting is the most common operation in the lab. However, whether it is an academic laboratory engaged in scientific research or a test laboratory, the generation of data is largely influenced by the performance of the pipette and the user's operating technology.

When there is a problem with the pipetting data, we always suspect the performance of the pipette, but the scientific literature shows that pipetting technology also plays a key role in the success of the experiment. Neglecting technical guidance can result in huge losses in time and money.

What should be included in a good pipetting technique?

1.The pipetting range is selected to ensure optimum accuracy and repeatability at 35% to 100% of full scale. Selecting the right range will increase the pipetting accuracy by 1%! Try to avoid setting the pipette range below 10% of the maximum value.

2.When setting the pipette range of the gear control, always keep “down” to the required range. When adjusting from small range to large range, turn the adjustment knob to reach more than 1/3 turn of the required range, then call back to the station. The exact position of the range is required to reduce the effects of mechanical backlash or gear slip.
